Be a World Traveler

One of my fav ongoing trends is ethnic and tribal prints. I love how they add an exotic touch to your style. To add one of these pieces to your wardrobe try one of the options below. Go subtle with a neutral scarf or go a bit bolder with a printed dress or bright skirt. Pair with some aviator shades, bangle bracelets, and sandals and you're sure to feel like you're on vacation!

For the home it's even easier to add this exotic look. Try one of these patterned pillows on your sofa or throw on top of a simple duvet for a dramatic bedroom look.

Table linens are also a great way to try this trend. Spice up your next dinner party with a fun table runner like the one below. Set the table with lots of glass votive candle holders and simple tableware and you're sure to entertain in style. For a more simplified look try these patterned napkins with bamboo placemats and neutral dishware.

Your Stand-bys

Everyone has their own basics or stand-bys. You know your little black dress that is perfect for every occassion (mine is short and strapless), your go to nail color that matches everything (Essie marshmallow for me)

or everyday lip balm (Burts bees champagne lip shimmer). These are the things that make you feel comfortable, at home, and can easily be dressed up or down.

Your home is also a place for basics. When trying to express yourself through your home decor first look into your closet and makeup bag for inspiration. What are you usually drawn to? For me it translates into things like a fav paint color that matches with everything like "sandy hook gray" from Benjamin Moore historical collection.

Another great basic is a nuetral slipcover for existing furniture that will act as a backdrop for your ever changing accessory choices. I also love a textured area rug that is simple, durable and will hide stains like this one from West Elm.

When you want a change simply move it to another room, cause it's guaranteed to match any decor. Once you establish staples for your home, stay with them because they will prove to be timeless basics for YOUR ever changing STYLE!
